Besides the obvious advantages like fancy binding, illustrations and the exciting new book smell, I miss one other self-reviewing feature of every paper book: not using bookmarks. I used to force myself to remember where I stopped. If not, it was a sign that I wasn’t focused, so then I’d force myself to re-read the part I didn’t remember. If that happened too often, it was a sign it wasn’t appealing to me, so I’d drop the book. It’s been over a decade since I switched to reading articles and books mostly on the computer, PDA and phone screens, and I really miss this feature.
