The other day we were visiting my in-laws, i.e., about 25 miles away from our nearest printer, when an email with a proof of insurance for my father-in-law was forwarded to me, so I thought of Kinko’s but I was a bit scared of entering my password and username on a computer that’s ‘been around the block’. However, as I entered the store, I noticed that most of their faxes and copy machines have an USB port. So then I opened the email message on my HTC EVO and saved the PDF attachment to the phone, took the charging USB cable from the car and connected the phone to the copier’s USB port as a disk drive, browsed to the PDF file on the copy machine console, hit the print button and voila! I had the hard copies for 10 cents a page in no time! I don’t know why, but this is a big deal to me. Maybe because I couldn’t do this on my iPhone or because it is one more degree of freedom, not having to drag a laptop with all my files everywhere.
